The Martial Arts of today are much as they were over a thousand years ago, but there are some major differences. Today we don't have massive battles where hand to hand combat is a necessity, nor do we fight with swords and many of the traditional weapons of those times. With the advent of firearms the mental strategy turned from relying on the self, to relying on the gun. Most people today don't see self defense as a necessity. So why then do we need to study the Martial Arts? Well, for many of the same reasons the Martial Arts have thrived for over 1500 years.

The Temple of the Dragon follows the Ethical Code of the Shaolin Martial Artist, or WuDe.

The first organized system of Martial Arts was being designed by Buddhist Monks in China some 1500 years ago. The need arose for these monks to defend themselves against invaders to their temples, so the birth of Kung Fu and the Shao-lin monk began. These Shao-lin monks found that by studying natural principles of nature along with natural body movements they could defend themselves when the need arose. They also found that through daily exercise and training they could stay healthier and stronger and take their religious studies and meditations to all new levels, therefore creating a whole body, mind, and spirit experience.

The Temple of the Dragon is a true traditional school

Today, this experience lives on in traditional Kung Fu schools around the world. There are schools that still teach many of the same forms and techniques that have been passed down for centuries. Though there are many Martial Art schools out there today, they are not all the same. "Kung Fu" has taken on many new forms and many new names. Many schools only teach certain parts of the system or teach a watered-down version that only slightly resembles the traditional forms and techniques and some instructors will come up with their own so called style.

Finding a school that teaches the traditional Kung Fu experience of the mind, body, and spirit is not easy to find. There are many schools in any given city these days, but very few traditional Kung Fu schools exist. It is a lifelong journey for a traditional Kung Fu instructor to learn and teach the ways that were passed down to him or her by his or her teachers, so very few traditional teachers exist. Then, it is even harder to find a traditional teacher that has decided to take the path of opening a school and teaching this experience to all who want to learn.

At THE TEMPLE OF THE DRAGON you will find a traditional teacher teaching the traditional Kung Fu experience of the mind, body, and spirit. We offer classes in traditional Shoa-lin Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Hsing-I, Pa Kua Zhang, Shuai Chiao, and Chinese Kenpo. We also have classes in yoga and meditation. Throughout the year we have seminars where you can train under some of the top Kung fu Masters of today. Students can attend monthly discussion meetings on topics ranging from health, Martial Arts, and philosophy to just name a few.

So, no matter what your interests are in the Martial Arts and no matter what your health condition is, THE TEMPLE OF THE DRAGON has a class that is right for you!
